Mary Sotera

Mary Sotera joined Cavitch, Familo & Durkin as a shareholder in January 2020.

Mary brings with her an extensive background in family law and helps clients navigate the complications related to premarital planning; marriage termination; spousal support; child support, custody and allocation of parental rights; adoption; mediation; parent coordinating, domestic violence and civil stalking protection orders.

Mary practices in the juvenile, domestic, general, and appellate courts in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Geauga, Medina, Summit, Portage, and Lake counties.

To complement her family law practice, Mary has obtained certification as a mediator with specialized training in domestic relations matters and domestic violence. She has also attained guardian ad litem training and certification as well as parenting coordinator training and certification.

In addition to her family law practice Mary is also a member of Cavitch’s litigation practice. There she provides her experience in both civil and commercial litigation.

Mary received her J.D. from Cleveland‐Marshall College of Law. Her Bar admissions include the states of Ohio and Florida. She also has admission before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Mary is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association as well as the Justinian Forum.

Mary is proficient in Italian and Spanish.
