Jeff joined Cavitch in 2003. Jeff practices in the areas of general corporate and business law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate law, and corporate and commercial finance. Jeff acts as general counsel for many closely-held businesses and represents both privately-held and publicly-traded companies in many industries including manufacturing, distribution, retail, banking, real estate, title insurance, professional services, and technology.
Jeff provides counsel to business owners, senior level executives and boards of directors, and he has served as counsel on hundreds of complex transactions worth hundreds of millions of dollars, including: corporate mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations, and joint ventures; commercial and asset-based lending; commercial real estate lending, leasing, acquisitions, dispositions and development; entity formation, capitalization, operation and restructuring; corporate governance and succession planning; executive employment arrangements; intellectual property acquisitions, dispositions and licensing; and product and equipment purchase, manufacture, supply and distribution arrangements.
In addition, Jeff has been a co-editor of Matthew Bender & Co.’s publications, Ohio Transaction Guide and Current Legal Forms since 2009.
Jeff has also litigated various disputes involving real estate and business matters, including title insurance issues. He successfully argued Don Pre Development Corp. v. Jacobs before the Eighth District Court of Appeals, Cuyahoga County (No. 89379, Slip Copy, 2007-Ohio-6634).
Jeff is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, as well as the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association where he is a member of both the Corporate & Business Law Section and the Real Estate Law Section. Jeff’s community involvement has included leadership roles with the Real Estate Law Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, where he has been the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
Jeff received a Master of Science degree in physical therapy (1995) and a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences (1994), both from Boston University. Prior to entering law school, Jeff practiced as a licensed physical therapist for several hospital systems and healthcare facilities in Florida and Ohio.
Jeff received his Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2003. While Jeff was in law school, he received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in the Lawyering Process and Estate Planning & Taxation. Jeff was selected as an Ohio Rising Star for 2009 and 2010 – an honor awarded to outstanding young lawyers in the State of Ohio.
Jeff grew up in Bradford, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Pepper Pike, Ohio with his wife and two children.
