Cory J. Martinson joined Cavitch in August of 2016 as an associate attorney. He is currently practicing in both the business law and litigation groups at Cavitch in which he advises and represents businesses, families and individuals on a variety of matters.
Cory graduated from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law earning his Juris Doctor degree with a certificate in dispute resolution. While at Moritz, Cory worked in the Legislative, Mediation, and Entrepreneurial Business Law Clinics. As a member of the Legislative Clinic, Cory worked for the Ohio House of Representatives where he provided legal support to multiple Representatives on matters effecting Ohio law. In the Mediation Clinic, Cory served as a certified mediator in the Franklin County Municipal Court in both the small claims and prosecutorial diversion programs. In these programs, Cory worked to assist parties with the settlement of various disputes leading to quicker and more equitable outcomes.
Cory also worked with start-ups and small businesses during his time in the Entrepreneurial Business Law Clinic. As a member of that clinic, he executed a variety of business documents and performed various legal services critical to the success of new and small businesses. In addition to his involvement with the various clinics at Moritz, Cory also held positions as an Editor and Board Member for the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, served as a Senator and Chief Justice of the Student Bar Association, was a student mentor, and participated in various moot court competitions.
Cory received his undergraduate degree in political science with a minor in legal studies from Heidelberg University, graduating summa cum laude with honors. While at Heidelberg, Cory was also named an academic all-American as a member of the wrestling team.
Cory was born and raised in Brunswick, Ohio and attended St. Edward High School.
